Plants vs. Zombies

Updated: Dec 5, 2020

I played Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition a long time ago, and it was a cute tower defense style game. My kid was having issues going to sleep last night because of some cartoon with a zombie in it. I explained how they really are not real and are pretty silly. I decided to install my old copy of Plants vs. Zombies to play together.

It is an instant hit. The cartoon style zombie creatures that all have different quirks along with the fun and imaginative flowers. Even the husband came into the office to watch for a bit while he reminisced playing this back on the PlayStation 3 many years ago. Together my kid and I spent three hours playing this game on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Being still young, I handled the controls, but I let them pick which flowers for each level and where to place them. Not going to lie, I had to bite my tongue more than once, but this was about their experience. The "eater one" is the favorite almost ever time, well until the disco zombie started raising the dead. Then I had to get the "grave muncher". It is neat seeing them work out these problems and come up with solutions.

Must Stay Organized

Even though some of the choices would have been unorthodox, we never failed. We did have to use the lawnmower more than once, but we made it. It was overall fun and I am already being asked if we can play more tomorrow. I do the classic mom answer of "maybe", but really I am going to enjoy it. It probably won't be much longer before I am no longer 'cool' enough to hang out with so I will take it when I can.

So for this game, I highly recommend it. It is a simple game to grasp and it is family-friendly that even the kids enjoy. Nothing too crazy to scare the younger ones, but enough silliness to give them the giggles. Even the mini-games between major levels are pretty fun. I prefer the whack-a-mole one over bowling. This is one of the few times I will say, you can go ahead and pay full price. It's not expensive, but a great time killer that is family-friendly.
